Welcome

Dear Candidate

Thank you for your interest in Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and this unique opportunity to play a critical leadership role in our exciting city.  We are seeking a new Chief Executive for the Teaching Hospitals and with our Partners we have committed that this individual will also be the lead for the progressive Bradford Health and Care Partnership during a significant period of transformation.  I hope that you will enjoy finding out more about this new opportunity to lead the development and integration of health and care services in one of the North’s most ethnically and culturally diverse cities and its surrounding areas.

I was delighted to be appointed by the Governors as Chair of the Board this year and I am inspired by the energy and commitment of our staff in the Trust and in the wider Bradford Health and Care Partnership.Together we are dedicated to transforming the delivery of services to the people of this dynamic city.  It was this unique opportunity to shape and deliver integrated health and care services that attracted me to this organisation and we are now seeking a Chief Executive who shares the vision we have for a whole system approach.  Our new Chief Executive and Partnership Lead will join at a pivotal time as our Partnership commits to creating an integrated model of care that is sustainable for the future.  This is a true opportunity for an ambitious system leader to work across organisational boundaries and join a supportive Partnership that is open to change.

Our Partnership has made good progress with the development of Primary Care Networks and we continue to seek to deliver services as close to our patients’ homes as possible.  This inevitably means change in ways of working for our dedicated and talented staff in the hospital.  We need a leader who will support our staff andwho will empower and engage staff and patients in developing and delivering new solutions.  Within the Partnership, our leader will bring together organisations in the system to work through complex issues; seeking to provide sustainable services for the unique future needs of Europe’s youngest city and tackle the health inequalities that we still see within our communities.

As a Trust we deliver a broad range of healthcare services to around half a million people and have an annual budget of almost £400 million and employ 6,000 staff.  So we are large and complex by any measure.   As a teaching hospital we help to train the next generation of healthcare professionals and we are at the forefront of healthcare research and development through the Bradford Institute for Health Research.  This gives us further opportunity to learn and better understand the needs of our communities.  Our research projects include ‘Born in Bradford’ which highlights our commitment to population health and to engaging communities in their future wellbeing.

As you can see, this is an exciting place to be and if you are a compassionate leader with the energy, focus and capacity to lead a complex healthcare provider organisation as well as inspire a whole health and care partnership in Bradford then we want to hear from you.  This is an opportunity to make your mark in a dynamic and ambitious stakeholder environment and to make a major contribution to the future health and wellbeing of the people of Bradford.

I hope what you learn on this site will prompt further questions and I do encourage you to contact Emma Pickup, Michelle Shirley or Richard Murphy of GatenbySanderson on  to discuss your interest further.

I look forward to meeting you during the process.
